Read: “Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.” 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 (NLT)
Reflect: One of the many blessings I quickly caught on to when I recently switched jobs was the ability to have time to get back to my health and practice self-care. For me, regular exercise is a necessity and part of what I consider “me time.” It not only makes me feel stronger, it is also restorative. I look forward to the few days a week when I can fit in a run, a session at the gym or a fitness class. Along with physical exercise, I am continuing to work on ways to connect with God and strengthen my faith through prayer and devotionals.
In the past 6 weeks, due to a few unfortunate life events, I have been unable to keep my routine in place and I have quickly realized what an impact this change has had on me. I find myself more stressed, more tense, and less patient.
This week as I listened to Part 2 of the Re-Engage series, I was again reminded of the importance of soul care. We all need it in order to have the ability to connect with God and place him first. Being intentional about having a day of rest and making sure I make the time to connect with God must be priorities in my life.
React: Are you intentional about soul care? Do you have a regular routine that helps you connect with yourself and with God?
Pray: God, please help me to honor you by practicing regular soul care and making the time to connect upward and inward.
