Read: “Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in various forms.“ 1 Peter 4:10 (NIV)
Reflect: As a young bride, I attempted to make Swiss steak for the first time. It didn’t look very appetizing and after a bite, we ordered a pepperoni pizza. I had to learn how to cook so I called my mom and began with our family recipes.
God has blessed each of us with a unique talent. These talents are developed over time as we pray for God to give us wisdom. We have the holy spirit to guide us. As we spend time in God’s word, we are nourished and encouraged. Eventually, we are given the opportunity to use these abilities at home, school or work. In church, we are able to help serve and care for each other.
I learned how to cook over time. One dish that I have perfected was a Spanish dish called Chicken Paella. When we visited Spain for our 30th anniversary, we tried the Chicken Paella at a restaurant. My husband took one bite and whispered in my ear, “You make a better Paella.”
I am thankful to be able to help provide meals for families in our church while they are convalescing. I am able to bring meals to new parents. God is so gracious that he gives us a church family that allows us to use our unique gifts to bless each other.
React: Ask God where your strengths can be used to help in the many opportunities that we have at church. How can you share your faith in action so that others may know the love of Christ?
Pray: Dear Lord, I am humbled for the talents that you have given me so that I may care and bless my church, my family and my community. Praise God for your son, Jesus Christ, as a loving example of grace and mercy.
