Unexpected Ripples

Read: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28 (NIV)

Reflect: Staying faithful during difficult times, is difficult. I’m in the season where my health and finances have both changed for the worse since my wife and I made our Cannonball commitment. We remain blessed by family and friends from growth groups who have helped us in so many ways as the unexpected waves of life crashed on top of us at the end of 2017.

Our inconsistent financial situation during the inception of Cannonball made our financial commitment enough of a stretch because it was outside our ability and would require God to move in miraculous ways. Further, the commitment was a number God put in our hearts fully knowing there were to be rough waters ahead. For us, Cannonball has now turned into a faith test, not a financial test. But isn’t that the way our God works sometimes? To demonstrate his vast love for us and ability to literally do anything at any time, he’ll sometimes allow tough situations to get worse before getting better, all the while revealing his plan along the way. Wow!

When it comes down to it, His plans supersede ours all the time and it should be no different half way through our Cannonball experience. So onward we move, broken pieces and all, still making our contributions as God provides for us consistently through unexpected ripples sent through this family of believers we belong to.

Respond: No matter what your situation is right now, turn to God for guidance as we enter the second half of Cannonball. Ask God to remove your fears and replace it with trust.

Pray: Lord, thank you for loving me no matter if life looks the way I think it should or not. Help me trust your plan over my own and the world’s plans for me. Use my story to lead others to you.
