Over 300 kids invaded our campus last week for “Gadgets and Gizmos” summer camp! The kids were assigned to a team for the week and rotated between stations with crazy games, crafts, snacks, and fun lessons on growing in their walk with God. Thanks to everyone who volunteered to make this week so great for our awesome kiddos!
Following Camp United, our EastLake Students participated in a special baptism event just for students grades 6-12. It was an incredible evening as we saw over 50 middle and high school students take this next right step in their faith journey. It was a powerful moment to watch young people proclaim their faith publicly and with such joy. Thanks to everyone who stayed and celebrated this awesome choice!
Our annual summer camp for EastLake Students (grades 6-12) was truly Camp United this year as we had students and volunteers from Chula Vista, Imperial Beach, Torrey Pines, Venice and Playas. The week was full of fun and games along with faith-building messages, amazing live worship and intentional quiet time where students learned how to study their Bible and meet with God. It was an unbelievable experience to watch students grow in their faith and commit to living “beyond” themselves. The weekend following camp, we were able to celebrate over 50 students making the choice to get baptized in Chula Vista. We can’t wait to see how Camp United will launch our students into their classrooms and teams and activities to live a life on mission for Jesus.
Father’s Day at EastLake Church was an awesome chance for our dads to brush up on their #dadskills. It was fun celebrating our dads and helping them up their man game. Pictures of dads and families are available to view and download here.
Here is a video from EastLake Chula Vista…
Over 150 people were on hand for our Church 201 event, the second step in our Growth Track series. Our Growth Track series is designed to move each of us through the steps of a deeper faith and church experience at EastLake. Church 201 was a one-hour introduction to the practices and and habits that lead to spiritual growth.
We had so much fun celebrating over 50 people who took their next right step of baptism! We were able to combat the rainy weather with a heated pool and covered patio and cheer on everyone who was making this outward declaration of their faith. It was so encouraging to hear so many faith stories from all ages of people who want their life to reflect their heart choice to follow Jesus. Thanks to everyone who participated all weekend long! If you give to Cannonball then you helped make baptisms possible. What a thrill to see people jumping in (literally!) and desiring to make waves with their lives. For more info on taking the plunge, including when the next baptisms will be held, click here.
If you or a family member was baptized, you can view and download photos here.
Donuts. Chips and Salsa. Crazy Outfits. A lot of signups! That was the scene on the lower campus patio following each service during our Spring Ministry Fair. So many of you jumped in to become part of the hundreds of volunteers that it takes for ELC to run. From working with kids to making coffee to taking pictures to inputting data, it takes a literal village of folks to team up to make this place so special. It was awesome to see new faces, new volunteers and to see our teams growing as people signed up to help in different areas. Thanks to those of you who have served consistently in the countless areas of ministry and thanks to those who just jumped in for the first time! Our combined efforts make waves that impact thousands each weekend! Well done!
If you drove by EastLake Church Chula Vista last Friday night and thought you saw a massive party happening, you did! We welcomed over 400 honored guests to A Night to Remember Prom, which is an annual event for some special kids to have a special party. These kids get the royal treatment, from outfits to hair and makeup to walking the red carpet into the dance. Hundreds of volunteers show up to help make it all happen. What a blessing for us to use our campus to host this amazing event. Thanks to everyone who gave, showed up, prayed and served to make it truly a night to remember. Pictures from the evening are available here.
Our EastLake Students High School group in Chula Vista has unrolled an amazing new series of events highlighted by the once a month big group gatherings. These meetings are designed for the students to feel like they belong and provide a place for them to encounter Jesus together. The first two big group gatherings for January and February were “off-the-hook” (which means really cool). January’s event was a GLO party which involved a ton of black lights and neon clothing, included awesome worship and a message asking students to identify what they want to illuminate with their lives. February’s event was a 90’s Hip Hop party and featured a DJ, a crazy mash-up of songs and a great talk teaching students to identify struggles in their life where only Jesus can step in and help them. These big group meetings happen once a month and will continue on March 11 with Onesie Night (which is apparently a thing these days). All 9th-12th graders are welcome and it all goes down in the west auditorium from 6-7pm. More info can be found at eastlakestudents.com
We had a great time on Friday and Sunday nights with worship night! Thanks to everyone who came out to join us for this amazing night of worship and celebration.
