Read: “We are confident that God is able to orchestrate everything to work toward something good and beautiful when we love Him and accept His invitation to live according to His plan.” Romans 8:28 (VOICE)
Reflect: I recently made a significant career move that to some may be seen as a step backward. I had been at a company for over ten years and was making steady progress toward advancement to a key leadership role. But this did not come without drawbacks. In a moment of self-reflection, I realized my life had become all about my job and less about my relationship with God and my family. I recognized that while my job was bringing career success, it was not fulfilling the other essential elements that I felt define me. I spent a lot of time praying and asking God to show me where I was in life and how I could get to where I spiritually wanted to be. Once I reached a point of stillness and obedience, it became clear to me that I needed to make a change.
I came across an opportunity that fit well into my experience that I felt would allow me to grow in my faith journey. Although initially I was concerned with the impact it would have on my career, due to many who questioned my choice, I continued to pray and remind myself that God has a plan and that things would work themselves out if the new opportunity was really where God wanted me in this season of my life. It was incredible to see things fall into place despite my fears and doubts. I am now in my new job and feel a sense of peace with the decision that I made because I allowed myself to trust that God has a plan for me.
React: Do you ever question your life purpose and wonder if you were destined for more, or something different? Do you feel restless when God does not immediately show you your next step?
Pray: Lord, help me to trust you in the here and now, and to know that you will be with me in the next.
